Obermühle means
Tradition
The Obermühle is a traditional hotel. But what does that actually mean?
The dictionary defines tradition as follows: "Something that has been developed and passed down through history from generation to generation in terms of behavior, ideas, culture or the like, and continues to endure."
Tradition is often equated with standing still. For us, it means something else. And that is to deal with what was, what is and with everything that is to come. This results in constant development in order to be able to offer you family hospitality and service at the highest level.
Your host
Christian Wolf
In conversation with the thoroughbred hotelier in the fourth generation
Mr. Wolf, you were born into a family of hosts. How do you define hospitality?
"There is a credo in the hotel industry that needs to be followed: The guest should leave the house happier than when they arrived. So the art lies in giving guests a good feeling. That sounds simple at first, but it is a little more difficult to implement and requires a good instinct.
Ideally, the guest enters our lobby and recognizes the soul of the Obermühle at first glance - the warm and familiar atmosphere that reminds you of home, garnished with amenities of the highest standard. The Obermühle should be a place where our guests feel "at home", with little surprises that they didn't expect."
Your favorite place in the hotel?
"This is our historic Farmhouse parlor. I used to do my homework here with my grandma. And it was a place where the family used to sit together for fun game nights."
What does luxury mean to you?
"For me, the definition of luxury has changed fundamentally. Luxury used to mean having a gold-plated mirror in a hotel or caviar served in a restaurant. Today, in my opinion, it's much more about Intangible assetsPeace and quiet, time for yourself and your family, attentive but unobtrusive service - this is how we want to pamper our guests.
As a hotelier, I try to offer our guests what I myself am looking for on vacation. Due to my time-intensive job, I try to focus on peace and culinary delights on vacation. A relaxed dinner in a quiet atmosphere with a good glass of wine - that's luxury for me."
Where do you see the Obermühle in 5 years' time?
"We want to create a balanced mix of quality, tradition and innovative ideas and strive to keep the Obermühle to develop 'close to the guest': To recognize trends in good time, but not to follow them blindly and thus, in the best case, to know exactly what our guests want. So our guests need not fear a standstill. Anyone who already knows us knows that we are always good for a surprise."
